Understanding Save Image in Photoshop

Main rule: Don't upload Photo/Image for print to website/blog and don't print Image/Photo which saved for website.

After editing a photo or image, then i will ask myself, for what will i use this image/photo? will i print it, or upload it to website/blog.

Saving image for web or other device is a bit different. Maybe you ever had experience to try to open a website or blog then you recognise there was so slow your browser to load a page, in other time you find another page is very quick loaded. It is because browser download a page per byte per second, and images/photos have biggest amount of it.

I will not wait till a wonderful pictures in a page load if it takes too much time. 15 seconds is maximum. So don't let your visitor leave your blog because of it. Adjusting your pictures for the web/blog is a vital task.

Open Photoshop (If you don't have it you can download 30 days trial version from their website). After finish edit your photo/image then go to: File > Save for Web & Device...

New window appear. At the top-right you can choose file format in GIF, JPG or PNG or WBMP. Then look at the right-bottom of the screen, under "Image Size" you can specify width and heigh of your image in pixel.

At the left-bottom of the screen you should see new specification of your image: Format, size and faster of download in Kbps (kilo byte per second).

Look on the main screen of the window where your image appear, if you satisfied with the result then hit "Save".

Image above i saved with this technique and compressed in JPG format to be 10Kb from its original size 1,46Mb. Need only 3 seconds to download at 56.6Kbps internet speed.

Note: Save image for web and device will compress images. The images will loose lot of details and deep of field (in Photograph) but still look nice on screen. And the result look brighter in this way. It is better than visitor leave your blog because of heavy loading, eh?
